Why is the address on my label different from what I typed?
Nexus checks the destination address against the carrier's database when you get rates, and the label uses the checked version. Usually the only differences are capital letters, standard abbreviations and a ZIP+4.
When something that matters was changed, such as a misspelled street or a wrong ZIP code, you're shown what changed before you buy. Read it: if the correction is wrong, fix the address and get rates again.
The address couldn't be verified. Can I still ship?
Yes. You still get rates, and the label is printed with the address as you entered it. The warning tells you why it failed, most often because the street number doesn't exist or the address matches a street but not a delivery point.
Check the address with your customer first. A package sent to an address the carrier can't find is likely to come back. A warning about a missing apartment or suite number is worth fixing for the same reason. Addresses outside the US aren't always checked.
Why don't I see the service I expected?
A service is left out when it can't carry the package as you described it. Nexus never quietly drops an option you asked for, so the service disappears instead. Common causes:
Media Mail and Library Mail only appear when you mark the contents as qualifying.
Extras such as signature, Certified Mail, insurance or hazardous materials aren't available on every service.
Size and weight. Not all package sizes and weights are eligible for every service.
Return address. Some services need a phone number and email on it.
Why did I get no rates at all?
Nothing can ship the package as entered, and the message says why. Check for a missing weight, a destination with no street or ZIP code, incomplete customs information on an international shipment, or a combination of extras that no service offers together.
What does "insufficient funds" mean when I buy a label?
Your Nexus wallet doesn't hold enough money for the label. Nothing was charged. The message shows your balance and the price.
Refill the wallet and buy again; the rates you were looking at are still good. Turning on automatic refill prevents this.
My label purchase failed or timed out. Was I charged?
If the carrier refused the label, the charge was reversed straight away, and the message says what the carrier objected to. You can try the same rate again.
If the purchase timed out or the carrier didn't answer, the charge is held while Nexus finds out what happened. Just try again: buying the same rate a second time finishes the first purchase and never buys a second label. If you don't retry, Nexus settles it by itself within about ten minutes. Either the label turns up in your recent shipments (and can be voided/refunded), or the charge is reversed.
Why does it say my rates have expired or were already used?
Rates can be bought for one hour after you get them. After that, get rates again.
Each set of rates buys one label. Once you've bought one, the other rates from that set are used up, so a second package needs its own rates, even if it's identical.
Can I date a label for a later day?
Yes. Use PostalPoint's Carrier Pickup tool to set the date the package will be handed over to the carrier.
How do return receipts work?
USPS only allows a return receipt alongside Certified Mail, a signature service, or insurance over $500. Without one of those, the only service offered is Priority Mail Express, with the paper receipt.
The electronic return receipt needs Certified Mail. It isn't available with Priority Mail Express, or to military addresses and US territories. For the paper green card (PS Form 3811), enter the 22-digit number printed under its barcode, starting 9590, so the card is linked to the label. If the number is rejected, it's almost always a typo. Tip: You can click or tap into the return receipt barcode box and scan the barcode from the green card to save time.
Can I ship cremated remains, live animals or perishables?
Yes, within the US only, and USPS's rules narrow the services you'll see. Cremated remains go by Priority Mail Express only, in the USPS cremated remains box, and the only extras allowed are insurance and a return receipt.
Day-old poultry can go by Ground Advantage, Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express. For live animals and perishables, USPS's handling fee is already included in the rate shown.
