Bank accounts and cards

How do I link a bank account?

Enter the routing number, the account number, the name on the account, whether it's a business or personal account, and whether it's checking or savings. You'll be shown a debit authorization to agree to; the account can't be linked without it.

The first bank account you link becomes the default for refills. You can link more than one and change the default at any time. Expect refills from a new account to be credited when they clear, not immediately, until a few transfers have settled.

How do I change my bank account or routing number?

A linked account's numbers can't be edited. Link the new account, make it the default, then remove the old one.

The new account counts as newly linked, so its first few refills are credited when they clear. If that timing is a problem, keep a saved card on the account to cover the gap.

Why was my bank account disabled?

Your bank sent back a debit from it, for example for insufficient funds or because the debit was refused. When that happens Nexus takes back whatever the refill had credited, charges a return fee, turns off automatic refill, and disables the bank account.

A disabled bank account can only be turned back on by support, and linking the same account again won't work. Contact support once the cause is fixed. In the meantime you can refill from another bank account or a card.

How do saved cards work?

A saved card is the backup for refills. It's charged when a bank transfer couldn't be credited right away, or when you choose to refill by card. Card refills are available instantly and carry a higher reload fee.

If you save more than one card, the most recently added one is the one charged. To switch cards, add the new one or remove the one you don't want used. A card is disabled if a charge on it is disputed.

Does Nexus store my bank and card numbers?

No. Your full bank account number is passed to the bank processor and isn't kept by Nexus; only the routing number and the last four digits are. Card numbers go directly from your device to the card processor and never pass through Nexus. Only the brand, last four digits and expiry date are kept.
